Campaign Issues
Today we are faced with so many troubling issues. I am dedicated to working for the community. What concerns you, concerns me. I am dedicated to seeking improvement in our city’s infrastructure, the economy, and reducing gun violence. As a city council member, I will continue to work tirelessly to help make our community a better place for everyone to live.
Education
As a dedicated career educator, and former school board member with the Board of Education, Regina Williams is deeply passionate about providing a fair and equitable education for all children. She worked with the school board of Harper Woods to help create new programs and opportunities such as the new college career technical building and the opening of a new middle school. Regina attends many educational workshops and training because she believes in gaining knowledge in order to better support initiatives for student academic success. She was a member of the (MASB) Michigan Association of School Boards, and is a member of the (MML) Michigan Municipal League, (MBC-LEO) Michigan Black Caucus of Local Elected Leaders, (DACTM) Detroit Area Teacher’s in Mathematics, and AFT along with working on doctoral studies in educational leadership. As a member of the city council, Regina Williams will intensely fight for polices that support improving the city for residents while working with neighboring communities.
Gun Violence
We live in a troubling world. Every day we hear about a different mass shooting or someone being recklessly killed through gun violence. As a former 1st Lieutenant in the military, Regina Williams is no stranger to the potential destructive nature that weapons can have on individuals. There must be stiffer penalties and restrictions on who can own a gun and how it’s used to commit a violent offense. As a state representative Regina Williams will work on initiatives that help reduce the amount of gun violence in our community. It is important to keep the community safe not just for ourselves but also for our children and future generations. We should not be afraid to walk down the street, go to school, attend church services, or go to work. Regina Williams will work vigorously to help support and create initiatives that will reduce gun violence to help create a safer community.
Race, Gender, and the Economy
I believe the government has a responsibility to respond to issues of race, gender, and the economy to improve the living status of all individuals. Social and economic issues that are occurring within our society cannot be ignored. As a State Representative, I Regina Williams, will look into initiatives and policies that reduce the inequities in our communities to help individuals thrive and make our communities a safer place to live.
